TARANG, the brainchild of Abhijit Banerjee, one of the top musicians of India , focuses on Indian percussion, blending intricate and catchy rhythm with melodies based on Indian Classical Music. The percussion instruments, played by the finest musicians of India , are chosen to provide the entire spectrum of sound - from deep bass to mid-range to high frequencies- which transform the complicated rhythmical structures effortlessly into a musical form. The outcome of this delicately balanced rhythmic patterns and melodies is a sensational music that makes imagination soar high and feelings enthrall.
Tarang was featured for the first time in Kolkata , India at the prestigious Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture and was highly applauded by the Kolkatans as well as the media. It has been directly telecast by Kolkata Doordarshan and is still one of the most repeated telecast performances for the last two years. Tarang has been invited in many metropolis in India - percussive Art Centre Bangalore, R. K. Mission. Patna , Delhi Kamani Auditorium, Tolly Club Kolkata to name a few.
In the year 2003 Abhijit toured the US with his group Tarang and created sensation as he was featured in San Francisco Chronicle, LA Times and CNBC. Tarang performed 15 concerts all over the US . The World Beat Center , San Diego introduced Indian percussion for the first time in their agenda after the performance of Tarang.
The CD of Tarang is released from the TIM, company Germany and is heading for its next release within few months.

Rajshekar : Morsing
Rajashekar is a very reupted name in the world of Morsing and South Indian classical music. Has represented India in world Jewish harp festival held in spain, 2005. He is an integral part of TARANG and has toured with the team in the US tour. He has played with all stalwarts like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Umayala Puram shivaraman, Kadri Gopalnath, U. Srinivas, Pt. Shiv kumar Sharma to name a few.
Snehashish Majumdar :
Mandolin, Double neck Mandolin, Banjo.
Snehasish is one of those few artistes who are playing Indian Classical Music in Mandolin. He has performed in many prestigious festivals in India including Dover Lane in Calcutta , Sankat mochan in benaras. Was invited by Pt. Ravishankar to perform for his concert for Geroge in Royal albert Hal UK.. His unique creation double neck mandolin is used specially for TARANG when the team toured in the US. He is also a regular player in the film industry of Bengal.
Gautam Shome :
Keyboard and Arrangement
Gautam shome is a veteran keyboard player in the film industry of Eastern India. He is also a unique arranger and has arranged for many TV serials and film music. He himself is a composer and many of his composed title music are some of the most popular TV shows. Has worked with people like Salil Chowdhury, Satyajit Roy, Manna Dey, to name a few.
